Just over a month ago Lexus unveiled the redesigned 2016 LX 570. This SUV is unique in that it is one of the only vehicles that offers true luxury with full off road capabilities. The new features and design of the 2016 LX 570 are already getting a lot of buzz, so today with Lexus of Edmonton we will take a closer look at the changes Lexus is introducing.

Exterior

Almost none of the exterior look of the 2016 is the same as the 2015. The front end has a larger and bolder spindle grill which has become synonymous with the Lexus brand. The front end also features satin chrome trim and LED lights for its headlights, turn signals, and fog lights. The 2016 LX 570 is available with either 20 or 21 inch tires that both feature 10 spoke rims. The rear hatch and bumper also saw a redesign to bring them even further in-line with Lexus’ luxury yet functional look.

Engine Systems

One of the biggest upgrades in the 2016 LX 570 is the move from a six to an eight speed transmission. This results in an increase in both efficiency and performance between the 2016 and 2015. Drivers have also been given the Drive Mode Select dial which gives them the freedom to change the suspension and powertrain responses to suit their driving needs based on current conditions. Modes include ECO which focuses on the most fuel efficient ride, Comfort which prioritizes a smooth ride, Sport S and Sport S+ which focus on providing the sportiest drive possible by powering up the drivetrain and damping control from other systems to allow the driver to feel more in control. The engine is a 5.7L V8 producing 383 horsepower and a 7000 pound towing capacity ensuring that functionality is maintained even with heightened luxury.

Other Features

The 2016 LX 570 includes a panoramic view camera which can help with hitching up and towing a trailer, off-roading, or maneuvering in tight spaces. The interior display allows you to show various combinations of the cameras on the sides, front, and rear of the vehicle to aid in parking or driving. These cameras also help to assist with the Safety Systems including lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, and a pre-collision system. Combining radar technology also allows the LX 570 to have an adjustable guided cruise control that will maintain a certain distance behind other vehicles. The acceleration and deceleration is so intuitive and smooth, it can even handle people merging in front of you onto or off of other lanes or roads.

Overall, the newly re-designed LX 570 is a considerable improvement in almost every capacity. Lexus realized it didn’t need to overhaul everything, it just spent the time to redesign key systems to ensure that the 2016 LX 570 is the most functional and luxurious SUV available.
